    VICTORIA by Daisy Goodwin

On HBO GO you can watch the series “Victoria”, realized after the book with the same name, written by Daisy Goodwin.
It is always more comfortable for me to read historical facts through fiction.

So, I was very interested in reading how Victoria became a Queen at eighteen years old. But also I was angry about the people close to Victoria who, despite expecting her to be crowned, they did not do anything about her education as a future Queen.

I choose the passage where Queen Victoria is asking Prince Albert in marriage.

“I know it is not the custom for ordinary women to propose, but you are a queen, and it must come from you.”

The reason I chose this particular passage is that even though I am not a Queen, I was the one who asked my future husband in marriage  😉 :

“-Albert, will you do me the honour? She stopped and shook her head. “No, that sound wrong.” She looked away and back at him, and then in her clear voice said, “-“-Albert, will you marry me?”
Albert felt the smile spreading across his face.

    Albert: “That depends.”

    Victoria: “On what?”

Albert: “On whether you will let me kiss you.”

Victoria: “Very well.” Closing her eyes, she raised her face to him.
Victoria: “So. Are you going to accept my proposal? I do not intend to go down on one knee, you know?”

Albert: “My heart is yours, Victoria. For me this is not a marriage of convenience.”

Victoria: “No, I think it will be a marriage of inconvenience. But I have not choice.”

    Albert: “Neither do I.”
