\"\"<\/a>My husband’s favorite movie is “The Producers”<\/strong> written and directed by Mel Brooks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At least once a year, we see this movie. And yes, I do know most of the songs\u2014especially those sung by my favorite character, played by the actor Will Ferrell.<\/p>\n

This year, Mel Brooks will be 96 years old, and he published his memoirs “All about me!”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Comedy is a very powerful component of life.<\/strong><\/em><\/span>
\nIt has the most to say about the human condition because if you laugh you can get by.<\/strong><\/em><\/span>
\nYou can struggle when things are bad if you have a sense of humor.<\/strong><\/em><\/span>
\nLaughter is a protest scream against death, against the long goodbye.<\/strong><\/em><\/span>
\nIt’s a defence against unhappiness and depression.”<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

What I liked the most from this book was his opinion of failure.<\/p>\n

I am from a generation educated do not fail. Failure meant stupidity. I only now look at failure as something to be learned.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s important to fail, especially between the ages of twenty and thirty.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Success is like sugar. It’s too good. It’s too sweet. It’s too wonderful and it burns up very quickly.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Failure is like corned beef hash. It takes a while to eat. It takes a while to digest. But it stays with you.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Failure may not feel good when it happens, but it will always sharpen your mind.”<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
